The executive committee
Executive members (Execs, for short) meet biweekly to discuss any relevant information that affects Macdonald campus graduate students. This includes McGill policies; issues students face on campus; partnerships with organizations that enhance student life; social, academic and career events; budgets and contracts; and much more! Execs sit on many advisory boards and attend Faculty-wide meetings to be informed on the latest administrative decisions so we can advocate for student needs. This committee's objective is to offer Mac grads the best possible experience throughout their degree: ensuring your rights as students are respected, that you have all the tools and information you need to succeed now and after graduation, and that you have fun along the way!
Executive Committee elections take place in March-April of each year for the next term (June to May). Candidates must first get nominated by collecting twenty (20) eligible student signatures for all positions except president, which requires forty (40) signatures, before undergoing elections. Details may be found in the By-Laws of the MCGSS, section 6. All MCGSS members (Master's and Ph.D. students of the Macdonald Campus) in good standing are eligible for Executive positions.
Have any concerns, issues, ideas, comments? We want to know! You can reach the Exec of your choice via their MCGSS email address (find them all in the Executive Committee page, button below). You can also reach us by sending a message to any of our social media platforms). Lastly, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can fill out our Response Form under the Contact Us page.

The MCGSS Council
The MCGSS Council is composed of representatives for each department of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, in addition to Executive members. The Departmental Representatives are responsible for holding department-level events, representing their department's students' interests and reporting their needs, concerns, and issues to MCGSS, attending monthly Council meetings, and voting on MCGSS affairs.
Departmental Representative nominations open in September of each year. To become a Departmental Representative, a candidate must collect five (5) eligible signatures from students in their department. All MCGSS members from a given department are eligible to become a Departmental Representative for that same department. Their term is from September to August. If a position is vacant after the September nomination period and you would like to become a Departmental Representative, please inform an Exec.
If you would like to contact your department's Representatives, their contact information is listed on the Council page (button below). They welcome your input, whether it be a concern, an issue, a comment or an idea for departmental events. Council meetings are held monthly and are open to all MCGSS members. Check your McGill email inbox for the invitation.
